On April 2012, Vivek Ramachandran wrote in his video ( http://www.securitytube.net/video/3786 , at 05:46 ) :
"(slide name) SPSE Communtiy Edition
Videos to be posted from May 2012 onwards.
Only videos to be posted. 1 video/week for 52 weeks till May 2013. Ideal for the causal hobbyist and student..."
Today is July 20, 2012. What we've got here is only the 3rd arbitrarily selected video. That is at least 10 videos less than most of us expected. Till now, only one actually useful (Module 5 Part 4 - Processes in Depth) video has been published.
Well done??
p.s. Something tells me that the most desirable modules (3-4-5-6) will not be accessible till next year, and this is really sad :((
I've taken the full course and its just fantastic! Yes, modules 3-4-5-6 is the real deal :) Highly recommended.
@pythoncoder Rather than expecting everything for free, consider paying Vivek and SecurityTube for their service to the community. Hit the "Megaprimers" link on top and look at the volume of videos and the quality Vivek has already given for free. I do not know of ** anyone ** in the info sec community who has given out so much quality material.
Also, let me ask you guys who want the free edition -
1. How many videos / text tutorials have you created and contributed to the community?
2. In what way have you supported this site?
@pythoncoder - I also checked your profile and looks like you signed up on the site explicitly to just comment on this video. You have ZERO comments on any other video posted by Vivek for free.
Funny - you never ever thanked him for the free stuff he has given over the past few years to us all, but you have the time/energy for "Well Done??" stye comments. Consider posting some of your valuable comments on other videos given out for free as well and encourage him to give out free videos.
I've supported this site since it started - took all of his free courses and now am paying for the SWSE, SMFE and SPSE. Probably, if my finances allow, then will do it for all his courses to come.
All the best to Vivek and SecurityTube!
@pythoncoder - Seriously, I don't understand why people want whole course material free of cost... why.
You posted any video on SecurityTube till now ? your answers is NO. Now in SecurityTube there is two new section you ever posted any news or something else ? Same Your Answer is NO. So just simple you are here for free material not for helping SecurityTube. Do one thing Online there is lots of resources available for python read that material and learn ***Infosec Python*** : ). or enroll the course :) or wait for the videos :) as you said till the 2013 :)
to both posters.
I have created more than fifty vids on youtube besides articles. Why I'm not using my real account names is up to me, everyone has its own reasons. It's not the point.
The point is promising something and breaking it. It does matter.
I'm really tired of reading how people completely ignore this fact and keep going to offend others. I have already seen some discussions with exactly the same arguments (i.e. no arguments, just enroll the certification bla-bla-bla...) started with active securitytube posters (where's your arguments now, dudes?), where some guys like you tell them to shut the hell up and pay taxes... As for me, I can live without "python megaprimer", but also I do care about other folks, who can not afford payments.
Please correct me, if I'm wrong, but I have not seen any video or text on this site from Vivek with explanations or excuses? Again, point me if I'm wrong!
Guys,
Lets not make this a debate :) @pythoncoder - your point taken and @john-nash and @alone thanks for the support.
Here is a blog post with the details of the road ahead: http://securitytube-blog.blogspot.in/2012/07/new-features-on-site-and-roadmap-ahead.html
You can post your thoughts there. The video comments section is for questions / thoughts on the video only :) so request all to abide by it.
Hi guys,
been reading your comments and just wanted to give my input on it.
I personally signed up for SPSE for two reasons:
1.To learn python and improve myself
2. to support Mr. Vivek Ramachandran
Honestly Security tube has motivated me and I am sure a lot of us to make videos/educate others/and get into infosec.
I got to say, i tried making video tutorials for people but its not easy keeping up, its difficult as it takes time to make videos, and we all have our own lives to catch up with.
and on top of all that its not free hosting a site and building one from scratch.
but pythoncoder has a point. its not fair giving out word to your fans and not expecting people to be upset. they have waited patiently for weeks. they never asked for the material to be released free once a week it was mentioned that the videos would come out every week.
@pythoncoder If you really care so much about people who cannot afford - why don't you create a "Python Megaprimer"? and give it out for free? put your money where your mouth is?
Thanks Vivek for all your videos and this site! I am now a 100% infosec maniac
@vivek
Thank you for your answer. I'm more than satisfied with what I found in your blog/roadmap. My apologies for starting this discussion.
@j0k3rr Thanks my friend!
@John-Nash Please calm down my friend, @pythoncoder does not have any ill intentions. I understand his frustration.
@pythoncoder Welcome my friend! It was my mistake - I should have posted this update sooner than later. I am happy the situation is now clarified. I totally understand your stance and continue to respect it.
Hi, i think this video should be added to the Python Scripting Expert Megaprimers section in the website :) it wasn't added to the list of spse videos yet, so people who check only that section, won't find it.
Good job Vivek :) thanks for all your videos. When i can, i'll probably purchase the spse course..it's been long time i plan to do it :))
