Description: The OpenSSL Project is a collaborative effort to develop a robust, commercial-grade, full-featured, and Open Source toolkit implementing the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL v2/v3) and Transport Layer Security (TLS v1) protocols as well as a full-strength general purpose cryptography library. The project is managed by a worldwide community of volunteers that use the Internet to communicate, plan, and develop the OpenSSL toolkit and its related documentation.
OpenSSL is based on the excellent SSLeay library developed by Eric A. Young and Tim J. Hudson. The OpenSSL toolkit is licensed under an Apache-style licence, which basically means that you are free to get and use it for commercial and non-commercial purposes subject to some simple license conditions.

this video demonstrates How to encrypt and decrypt files using OpenSSL.
following are the steps taken in video.
generate a simple text file for demo.
install opensssl if not installed. this is done by "apt-get install openssl" (here os is blackbuntu)
use "openssl enc -aes-256-cbc -in inputfile.txt -out outputfile.txt" to encrypt the given file.
this will ask for a password. so a password is eneterd.
if we want to use encrypted data in mail then use this additional option
openssl enc -aes-256-cbc -a -in inputfile.txt -out outputfile.txt
to decrypt use following command
openssl -aes-256-cbc -d -in inputfile.txt -out outputfile.txt

in this video AES is used for encryption. but it has number of other algorithm also.
Good Encryption method.
Good one .. Thanks
