Description: http://data.proidea.org.pl/confidence/9edycja/materialy/prezentacje/TravisGoodspeed.pdf The MC1322x family from Freescale Semiconductor consists of a 32-bit ARM7 microcontroller and an IEEE 802.15.4 ZigBee radio. Memory protection is provided by a ROM bootloader that enables JTAG access only under certain circumstances. This short lecture presents two methods by which a clean and complete copy of firmware can be reliably extracted from a locked chip, as well as brief comparisons to methods for exploiting competing chips by other vendors. These techniques are expected to be portable to many system-on-package devices as well as a few system-on-chip devices.
