Description: In this tutorial we get Paimei with all accompanying tools(including PIDA) working on Python25 with IDA4.9 free. I account for almost all of the steps I took in the video. There was some minor tweaking in site.cfg for MySQLdb and the setup_db scripts that I forgot to mention. It gets the full Paimei kit working with Python 2.5, so we don't have to manage multiple python installs to use immdbg and Paimei console. Neat stuff. The video for download is still pretty sharp, but the free account on vimeo downconverts the video to non-HD when embedding if I upload more than one per week.

If you get the black screen it plays directly on vimeo
Awesome video! Just went through it, I think all the concepts are very nicely explained.
Great work!
Please provide the tweaks toooo . this is a great video.. i was badly looking for it.... thanks
I used mysql 5.1 so I had a binary installer....so in site.cfg change 5.0 to 5.1. In setup_db the text type on windows can't have a default value, so you delete that, then it gets upset over not having data to save so I removed not null. Then the database on windows returns None and seems to function okay mostly...I realise not null was the goal, but paimei seems to handle null okay. Does that get it running for you?
Well this is painful...2 days after I post how to get this working, ImmDbg now depends python 2.7.1 if you do the latest update...
Updated version of the video to follow...
hey andre sorry for replyn late.. i have mysql5.5 well the steps you mentioned are not clear.. please can you write more clearly what to do...

I bumped everything up to python 2.7 after the immdbg upgrade. MySQLdb has a site.cfg file that defines what registry key to check for the mysql directory...update that. Paimei from SVN doesn't seem to have the problem the setup_db problem so give the 2.7 steps a shot with a modified site.cfg. I stopped pressing into mysql later versions when the MySQLdb plugin README said we stopped support at 5.1
